We are a private Health and Well-Being Centre in Bideford North Devon, who specialize in helping others achieve a healthy and pain free life. Our passion is to help our clients achieve their goals big or small, our style is to work with you to improve your health, happiness and to keep it up for life.
With backgrounds in sport, weight management and all the way through too injury and pain rehabilitation no matter what your situation we can offer a helping hand. We strive to support, educate and push all our clients to achieve the best they can be and live pain free.

Our clients come from all backgrounds, in all shapes, sizes, abilities and levels of pain and discomfort, but we all support one another and share our journeys. We promote sharing your goals and experience in our community to provide that accountability that we need to push ourselves further. Having that extra drive and support from our community can make for a fun and long experience here at The Hive, so whatever pain you have we can help.
We pride ourselves on our customer service and satisfaction and have converted many ‘non-gymers‘ and sceptics with our fun, educational and supportive approach to achieving a pain free life.
About Me
I’ve known since I was 17 that I wanted to work in fitness and health.
During my work experience placement, I got my first real taste of what it meant to help someone feel better in their body — and I was hooked. From there I went all in, completing my degree in the field and even having my dissertation published in the Journal of Athletic Enhancement 2014.
But while I loved training, it didn’t take long for me to realise something…
I wasn’t most interested in helping people “just get fit”.
What really grabbed my attention was the more complex stuff — pain, injuries, movement problems, confidence issues, and the people who felt like they’d tried everything but still weren’t getting long-term results.
But my interest in rehab and pain management didn’t just come from studying — it came from experience. I’ve played rugby and sport for years and picked up more injuries than I’d like to admit… sprains, nerve pain, migraines, even a broken coccyx. So I genuinely understand what it feels like when your body isn’t doing what you want it to do.
A real turning point for me was helping rehabilitate my mum out of severe back pain that had affected her life for 8 years. Being able to help give her that freedom back sparked something in me, and it made me even more determined to help others realise they don’t have to live in pain forever.
That’s what pushed me deeper into the world of soft tissue therapy and exercise rehabilitation. I wanted to understand the body properly and learn how to help people not only feel better, but stay better.
In 2015 I landed my first role working in spinal rehabilitation, and from there I worked across a number of different practices around North Devon. And while I learned a huge amount, I kept noticing the same pattern again and again…
People would be in pain, get treatment, feel better…
Then 6, 9, 12 or 18 months later they’d be back in exactly the same place.
Not because the therapy didn’t work — but because there was no proper follow-up plan.
No rehab. No strength building. No long-term support.
And on the flip side, when people did get rehab somewhere, it often felt like a short course with a finish line…
“Right, you’re done now. Off you go.”
But real life doesn’t work like that.
That gap — between therapy and long-term results — was exactly why I created The Hive.
I wanted one place where people could come and know they’re covered no matter what stage they’re at.
Whether you need hands-on treatment, structured rehab, strength training, or simply support to stay healthy and pain-free… we bring it all together under one roof.
Everything we do is designed for long-term results.
Our exercise sessions aren’t about smashing you for a few months and hoping for the best — they’re built around training for real life. That means smart programming, varied intensity, consistency, and progress that actually lasts.
And honestly, one of the things I’m proudest of is the community we’ve built here. People support each other, encourage each other, and keep each other going — because getting better is easier when you’re not doing it alone.
At the end of the day, everything we do at The Hive comes back to one simple goal:
Helping people live well and stay pain-free.
My tutor matt always makes you welcome. When I have a new set of exercises he goes through them with you, even if you can't remember the next time he will still go through them with you. It has a lovely relaxing feeling to the place. Plus if the dates or day that you are meant to be there and can't get there then he will do his very best to work around you.

Can't recommend Hive Health and Well-Being highly enough, 18 months ago I could barely walk due to accident, working one-one with Matt with his expertise and knowledge, 3 months ago I was able to participate in a charity walk of 11 miles. Now thanks to hive I'm now working towards strengthen body to live pain free with their live well programme
